About Ulrieke
Ulrieke Benner is a contemporary textile designer, feltmaker, educator, painter, printmaker, and artist whose work bridges colour, natural fibres, and conscious living.
She creates one-of-a-kind felted wearable art and functional pieces that honour everyday life and meaningful moments. Working primarily with wool and silk, her pieces are designed to ground, warm, and uplift through beauty, texture, and thoughtful craftsmanship.
Often described as “portals you wear,” Ulrieke’s work blends modern elegance with rich textile traditions and a deep respect for natural materials.
Alongside her felted wearable art, Ulrieke also creates paintings and printmaking works inspired by texture, colour, nature, and material exploration.
She teaches feltmaking workshops focused on conscious making, slowing down, and understanding fibre from its origin to its final form. She is also developing a new line of home décor pieces using raw local wool as part of her ongoing commitment to sustainability and material awareness.
Ulrieke holds a Master of Education degree from Germany and a BFA in Textile Design and Fibre Art from the United States. Her work is collected internationally and can be found in Canada, the United States, Japan, and Europe.
She works from her studio gallery in downtown Ganges on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, and through her online boutique.
Conscious making and conscious living through natural fibres.
Rooted in her own way of working and living, and shared through felted work, art, and teaching.
